Terms of Service
Effective date: October 26, 2026
These Terms govern your use of astridlind.com (the “Site”), operated by Astrid Lind (“we”, “us”). By using the Site or submitting a form, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. What this service is, and what it is not
Astrid Lind by Jacob Construction is the design studio of Jacob Construction Inc. (“we”, “us”), a licensed California general contractor, CSLB License #1073757, Class B (General Building). We publish planning information, offer free design consultations and estimates, and perform remodeling work.
Using the Site does not create a contract. A design consultation and an estimate are free and carry no obligation. Construction work is performed only under a separate written home improvement contract between you and Jacob Construction Inc. that complies with California Business and Professions Code §7159. That contract, not these Terms, governs the work.
Verify our license. You can confirm our license status, bond and workers’ compensation insurance with the California Contractors State License Board at cslb.ca.gov (License #1073757) or by calling 1-800-321-CSLB (2752).
2. Estimates are not contracts
Any figure, range, timeline or scope description you receive through the Site or from us is preliminary and non-binding. It is an indication to help you plan, not an offer, quote or contract.
A binding price can only come from a qualified contractor, in a written home improvement contract that complies with California Business and Professions Code sections 7159 and following, after that contractor has inspected the property.
Nothing on this Site is a guarantee of cost, schedule, availability, permit approval, or any particular result.
3. Information on the Site
The planning guides, articles and area pages on the Site are general information about how remodeling projects work in Los Angeles County. They are not professional, engineering, architectural, legal or financial advice, and they are not a substitute for a qualified professional assessing your property.
Building codes, permit requirements and local ordinances change, and they differ between the City of Los Angeles (LADBS) and each incorporated city. Confirm current requirements with the authority having jurisdiction over your address.
4. Your submissions
When you submit a form you confirm that the information is accurate, that the telephone number is yours, and that you are at least 18 years old.
You agree not to use the Site to submit false information, to submit anyone else’s personal information without their permission, or to interfere with the Site’s operation.
How we handle what you submit is described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Intellectual property
The text, layout, design and original graphics on the Site belong to Astrid Lind or are used with permission. You may read and print pages for your own personal use. You may not republish, sell or systematically copy the content without our written permission.
Images. Several images on the Site are computer-generated visualisations produced to illustrate design concepts. They are illustrative and do not depict a specific completed project by a specific contractor unless a caption says so.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by California law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the information on it is complete, current or accurate.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, Jacob Construction Inc. and its owners, officers and employees will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Site, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability or otherwise, even if we were advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred United States dollars (US$100.00). This section concerns the Site only; it does not limit any rights you have under a written construction contract with us.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under California law, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. California Civil Code section 1542 is not waived by these Terms.
We are not liable for the contractor’s work. Claims arising from construction work belong between you and the contractor, and may also be pursued through the CSLB complaint process and, where applicable, the contractor’s bond.
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Astrid Lind harmless from claims arising out of your breach of these Terms or your submission of information that is false or that you had no right to submit.
9. Governing law, venue and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Informal resolution first. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at info@astridlind.com describing the dispute, and to give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
Arbitration. If the dispute is not resolved, it will be settled by binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, before a single arbitrator, seated in Los Angeles County, California. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
- You may opt out of arbitration by emailing info@astridlind.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating that you opt out and giving your name and contact details. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
- Small claims are excluded. Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court instead.
- Costs. For consumer disputes, we will pay the arbitration filing, administration and arbitrator fees to the extent required by the JAMS Consumer Arbitration Minimum Standards.
- Public injunctive relief. Nothing in this section waives the right to seek public injunctive relief in court, which under California law (McGill v. Citibank) cannot be waived.
Class action waiver. Disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis. Neither party may bring a claim as a plaintiff or class member in a class, collective or representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim proceeds in court and the rest of this section still applies.
If arbitration does not apply, the exclusive venue is the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
10. General
Changes. We may update these Terms. The effective date at the top will change, and continued use of the Site after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site.
